Why the year limit?

We've been getting ALOT of people asking if they can bring their modern cars to the Picnic, especially cars from the 2000s.
We are car people, we love all kinds of cars, and if you've ever been to Jimmy's, you would have seen a huge variety of cars, but they all have one thing in common--they are OLD! That is why we are called the Old Car Picnic and we have a cut off date of 1972.
We love seeing what people do with their modern cars--they are cool, interesting, and creative, but we have a really strict permit and need to be able to have room for vehicles that make the year cut off.
Thanks to those who have checked in advance if they can bring their modern cars, as we will not allow modern cars into the show. If you were planning to bring your modern car, or know someone who is, please know that modern cars will be turned around at the gate. BUT they will be welcome to park on JFK Drive, overlooking the Meadow, where parking is free and public. If you have any questions about this, please let us know. Thanks for understanding!

  1. That's BS, if it's first come first serve then you should be able to bring any car and enter it in the show!!! I also notice that the admission fee has been raised an extra $10.00, I'm all for helping out the disabled what exactly how much if the proceeds go to helping the disabled??? And again even olds car were once modern!!!

  2. Sorry Adam, it's an OLD Car Picnic and it has ALWAYS been. If you feel it's BS, then no one is forcing you to come. The admission fee has been raised $10 because the City has raised our fees to throw the show! We didn't want to raise it but we had to. We have given THOUSANDS of dollars over the years to the Disabled. In 20 years when the modern cars are considered old, we can let them in. Once again, if you don't like any part of what we are doing, no one is forcing you to be there. Our rules are our rules and most classic car shows are more expensive and more strict then ours.

  3. Is there a chance that the old car limit can go up to 1983? There are plenty of cars between 1973 and 1983 that are considered old by the general public and can enthusiasts alike. Thanks.

  4. Robert, thanks for asking. We'll have to see how everything goes this year and discuss it with our organizers--we do understand your point. If you have a question about bringing any particular car of those years, just drop us a note at jimmyspicnic@gmail.com.
